The secret recipe for making delicious colorful shortbread cookies with a glass heart.
Today for my column Pies and pastries in the kitchen, I offer you the recipe for shortbread cookies with "glass heart," an absolute novelty that is still little known 😉
For the shortbread dough, I used my friend Cris's recipe. who has some great recipes from desserts to main courses as well as lots of trivia about wonderful places, if you want to take a look I'll leave the link to his bolg: ingiroingiro
The ingredients I used are:
- 250 g flour
- 125 g of sugar
- The grated zest of one lemon or 10-12 drops of citrus flavoring
- 1 egg at room temperature
- 150 g soft white butter (strictly at room temperature)
- 2 x 9 ml vials of food coloring color red
- Hard fruit candies
- Large and small flower-shaped cake molds
Oven preheated to 180°.
To prepare the pastry in a bowl I poured the sifted flour, sugar, grated lemon zest, I also added the citrus aroma (but you can decide whether to put or the zest or aroma), the whole egg, the butter softened at room temperature, two vials of 9 ml of red food coloring (even here you can decide the color you like best) and a pinch of salt.
Then I mixed the ingredients using only the fingertips until the mixture was soft.
I quickly compacted with my hands just long enough to get a smooth and homogeneous dough.
I wrapped it in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Now begins the most beautiful work, creating cookies😊
First of all turn on the oven at 180 degrees, the oven must be hot!
Then I spread the pastry with a rolling pin and I made the biscuit in the shape of a flower, first with the larger mold and then in the center with the smaller one, creating a central hole and I placed them on a baking sheet above the baking paper.
After that, with a rolling pin I crushed some hard candies and the pieces obtained I placed them in the center of the biscuit that the heat of the oven melted by joining them to the pastry creating a glass effect.
Now all that remains is to bake them for 4/5 minutes (unventilated oven).
And here they are! Cute colored cookies with a glass heart!
